Balenciaga is Selling Trash Bags?

We are all for an investment bag that will be a money bank 10 years from now. Balenciaga has always been known for its avante-garde pieces. The fashion house is selling a drawstring pouch made out of calfskin that is made to resemble a trash bag. You heard correctly, a trash bag. The current retail price is $1790 USD. The bag comes in 4 colour stories: black, white and red, blue and black, or yellow and black. 

Demna Gvasalia, creative director of Balenciaga stated to WWD, “I couldn’t miss an opportunity to make the most expensive trash bag in the world, because who doesn't love a fashion scandal.” The world of social media uses the word trash in iconic viral videos and songs, we blame tik tok for the virality of trash. Gvasalia launched the bag at its opening appearance for the Fall 2022 fashion show. The show paid homage to the victims of Ukraine and models walked down the runway recalling the refugee experience and while there was artificial snow. 

GQ, however, has named Balenciaga’s trash pouch a “must have”. Balenciaga just officially made “you’re trash” a compliment even if the bag is trash.
